Christmas and New Year's day came so quickly. I was looking forward to the start of another year with hopes it would be as exciting and wonderful as 2021.
My holidays were spent up in Sonoma in the wine country with my friends Judy and Michael and of course their dogs, Ike and Max!
We were invited to Judy's sister Nancy and her husband Nick's fabulous home in the hills of Sonoma over-looking the vineyards. Joining us were their two daughters and their boyfriends. A full house of great cooks and mixologists!
The home had a wine cellar on property that housed over 1500 bottles of wine and champagne, the best in the region. Nothing like being told we had to drink some of the champagne before it went bad. I'm so there, start pouring!
With delicious food and drink, great conversation and lots of laughter, it was a great celebration of family and friends. Michael and I walked the dogs everyday up and down the hills of the beautiful community far away from the Xmas crowds. With all the food and drink, I welcomed these daily walks and even ventured into the town of Sonoma which was a good 5 miles from their home.
Due to heavy rains while there, the richness of the countryside was beautiful with deep shades of green everywhere. Wild turkeys roamed the hills, as well as deer and owls.
I was staying in the guest house where I was able to meditate and do a lot of reading every day.
Along with the festive holiday food and drink, we watched a lot of the old Xmas classics, many which I had never seen. It was truly two weeks of total relaxation and happy holiday spirit. Such a great start to the new year to come!
