E-Bike Adventure Around Korcula

Updated: Aug 20, 2021

After my last e-bike adventure/disaster that I experienced on the island of Vis/Komiza, I decided to give it another try. Jamie and I were going to rent scooters, but there is a lot of traffic on narrow roads and her inexperience on one and my not wanting her on the back of mine, led us to our decision. For $30.00 and 6 hour rental, we thought it was a good deal. The owner and his colleagues were so nice and helpful. I would higly recommend using them if you travel here, www.Titan-rent.hr With all the eating we have been doing.....pasta, pizza, and fresh bread, it was probably a wise decision to get some good cardio exercise in with the bikes!

I'm the adventurous type that just takes off exploring always thinking, "let's see where this road goes". Jamie is much more pragmatic and studies the map wanting to know exactly where she is and where she's going. She keeps me in check and we always get to where we plan to go. She also monitored the bikes battery charge, not wanting my Vis experience to happen again!

Our first stop was Lumbarda beach located about 45 mins. from town in the middle of the wine region of the island. We jumped in the water at Bili Zal beach and discovered an actual sandy beach to lay on.

You could walk far out into the water with a sandy bottom making it very safe for families with children. There were actually small waves as well which is almost nonexistent here in Croatia. It was a bit crowded so we set off to another beach in the same area called, Przina. With blow up water slides and water toys, we didn't stop but it was a beautiful location.

Heading back into town, we rode the bikes around the northern edge of Korcula along the coast. There were some beautiful coves and inlets just a short distance from town. We passed through the towns of Medvinjak and Zrnovska Banja which both had some beautiful rental apartments and restaurants overlooking the water.

We arrived safely back into town with bikes still fully charged - even after 5 hours! Since we were in the town center with our bikes and had extra time we did some more exploring.

For anyone interested, there are two very nice hotel properties located in the center of town. One is a beautiful four star property called Aminess Korcula Heritage Hotel, https://www.aminess.com/en/aminess-korcula-heritage-hotel located right on the harbor where the grand yachts dock for the night.

The other is a lovely small boutique hotel called The Fabris Luxury Inn, www. thefabris.com

Within the fortress walls of the old city is a promenade along the water where there are numerous restaurants overlooking the Adriatic. It is lovely for strolling and people watching. The perfect place for an afternoon cocktail or mocktail watching the yachts sail in for the night.

Our local tour coordinator, Bojan has set up a boat tour for us to snorkel in the Odysseus Cave on the island of Mljet. We will also be stopping at some hidden coves on nearby islands to do some snorkeling.

We love being on the water as well as in the water so we are looking forward to sailing on the Adriatic blue! Check back tomorrow for your up to the minute "travel in Croatia report"!
