While Jamie recovered from our walking tour of the Old City Walls at the Grand Villa Argentina Hotel ( which I highly recommend if traveling to Dubrovnik),
I took the three and a half minute ride on the cable car up to Mount Srd.
The views at the top of the mountain were stunning. The cable car was built in 1969 and gives a full panoramic view of the Old City of Dubrovnik, the island of Lokrum, and the surrounding areas.
They say on a clear day you can see as far as 37 miles. I recommend going out the back door downstairs when you arrive and go to your right towards the huge white cross. Here is where you will experience the best views without the cable car wires in your way. To the right of the cable car looking towards the city are the ruins of the Imperial Fortress, built in the 19th century, which was stratigic during the Homeland War.
Do yourself a favor and include this excursion if you travel to Dubrovnik. You will love the "time out" and reflect on the beauty of the history before you.
